Tips to help find the right provider for you
Connecting with the right health provider can help you get the care you need. There are a few things you can look out for when choosing who to see.
You can often find this information on your practitioner's website under their profile. If you prefer to speak to someone, you could call the clinic’s reception to ask for help.
We’ve put together some information about the 17 health providers and medical specialists you might encounter along your health journey.
For example, if you need to see a physio, some useful things to ask about are the practitioner’s:
- specialty area e.g. arthritis, or post-surgical rehab
- qualifications (where they’ve studied) and registrations
- availability for in-person or telehealth sessions
- working hours.
Finding the right provider
From physiotherapists and osteopaths, to chiropractors, remedial massage therapists and medical specialists – there's a variety of help available.
If you’re a Bupa health insurance member, you can find a physio by using our Find a provider tool. For most physio consultations with Members First providers, you may get more money back.*
If you’re not sure who you need to see, it’s a good idea to start with a general practitioner (GP).

Need urgent help?
If you need immediate help, call triple zero (000) or visit the emergency department at your closest hospital.
If you need help for an illness or an injury that can be managed without a trip to the emergency department, but can’t wait for a regular GP (general practitioner) appointment, you can visit an urgent care clinic.
