How to use this tool

Your waist circumference is measured at the narrowest point between your ribs and hips after exhaling.

Your hip circumference is measured at the point where the buttocks are most extended when viewed from the side.

Recommended ratios differ based on your age and sex. Select the gender you most identify with.

Why is this important?

Relative excess fat around your waist appears to increase your risk of developing one or more chronic diseases or conditions, such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

One way you can assess your weight-related risk is by measuring your waist to hip ratio (WHR).
